(find at the bottom how to apply)
Background: IDA Global Development events have a considerable participation of young professionals with keen interest in global development. However, they often find it difficult to get started with a career in their fields of interest as the traditional entry-points have more or less closed. However, other often less obvious entry-points and avenues have emerged. During a tour of the engineering schools in Aalborg, Aarhus, Odense and Copenhagen in September 2014, a focus group of more than 60 students was established. Based on email exchanges with this group, the below programme for IDA Development Class 2015 was formulated.
Purpose: The IDA-Global Development Class 2015 is intended as an opportunity for young people who are at the beginning of their careers to build networks, learn about and shape a career in the field of global development.
Initially a one year process starting from the end of February 2015 is foreseen with a total enrolment of 40 – 50 people from across a range of disciplines.
Specific objectives:
- To get to know and understand the main generic and some specific operators in the global development field, their driving forces, approaches, and recruitment policies and processes
- To get to know and prepare oneself (professionally and socially) with respect to a career in global development, align expectations with realities, and produce a marketable profile
- To establish a professional network in global development and understand how to use and further expand this
- To actively engage the participants to take responsibility for key parts of the Class’ events and processes.
