Meet IDA – Global Development and Engineers Without Borders

IDA – Global Development, formerly The Society for International Development (Ulandsfagligt Selskab) and Engineers Without Borders (EWB) are pleased to announce a meeting to present the two organisations and their activities and to inform, inspire and enlighten participants with an interest in sustainable development about how they can use their skills and competences in development work.

The meeting will be conducted in English. It will take place on: Wednesday, 17 September 2014 from 16:30 to 19:30 at Aarhus University, Dalgas Avenue 2 (DA2), Room 239, 8000 Aarhus C

Fee: The meeting is open for all. It is free of charge for members of the two organisations and for non-member students. The fee for other participants is DKK 200. Registration is required for admission to the meeting, and members of IDA and other participants can register at www.ida.dk or 3318 1848 (Monday to Friday 10:00 to 14:00). 16:30 – 17:00  Welcome and short presentation of IDA – Global Development by Erik Thorbjørn Nørremark, IDA – Global Development and Engineers Without Borders by Jesper Rost Villumsen, Chairman, Aarhus Section of Engineers Without Borders.

17:00 – 17:45  The Engineers Without Border Palestine project by Eng. Ahmad Ghayyada, Renewable Energy Specialist, Hebron University, Palestine  and Eng. Hanan Taha, Chairwoman, Engineers Without Borders Palestine.
Since 2009, the Danish Section of EWB has worked on the West Bank in cooperation with EWB Palestine on renewable energy projects, which will be presented by the two speakers.

17:45 – 18:15  Sandwiches and refreshments.

18:15 – 19:00  Working with global/international development by Erik Thorbjørn Nørremark.
Erik Thorbjørn Nørremark is a consulting engineer with COWI. He has worked with international development in many different capacities. He will present his experiences in international development, the present challenges for working with development as well as his perspective on future work for professionals in international development.

19:00 – 19:30  Questions and discussion.

19:30 – 20:30  IUG workshop for interested participants on: “Building a solar charger for mobile phones”.
