IDA Development Class 2015 ″Kick-off meeting” 2nd of March, 2015
About 50 of the Class members participated in the first meeting with many of the remainder being out of the country on, e.g., field- or volunteer work. The Class facilitators introduced the ideas behind the initiative and the preliminary Class calendar (link see link). They also presented an early draft of a compendium of all the Class-members that, as it evolves will serve both internal Class as well as external communication and network purposes.
The Kick-off meeting also included two input sessions. The first addressed how LinkedIn can be used optimally for making contacts and communicating interests and competences widely in the development environment. The second described how global recruitments and selections take place and gave hints to which critical questions to ask when the Class meets different employment actors – taking advantage of not being in an actual recruitment situation.
Finally, the Kick-off meeting was used to establish five project groups – each focusing on one sector: United Nations, Private-for-profit, Private-not-for-profit, Governmental / intergovernmental and Global entrepreneurship. After the group members were introduced to each other, the groups focused on structure, communication means, and key questions for the inquiry as well as beginning a work plan. The groups were supported by resource persons with extensive personal experiences from the sector in question.
